fred yaddaden's first album 'the shadow of a rose' seems to be the quintessential break-up album, the kind that feels like it would get you through anything. rough around the edges, it is a demonstration of instrumental poetry and production sorcery.

since the artist wanted to keep the album's story a mystery, i chose to illustrate what could either be the process of creating or the experience of listening to this album as a page of your life is turned.
the rather somber outer shell reveals a bright secret after opening... the light at the end of the tunnel?
